Hanging of the Fire
Visual description
An orange sphere hangs suspended above a horizon line, held by two thin yellow lines that meet above it and rise off the top of the canvas. The upper half is a mottled light blue sky. The lower half is a darker textured blue-green, suggesting water. The sphere sits just above the horizon, glowing against the surrounding blue tones.
I was talking with my son about how I haven't made as much artwork as I wanted to. To prove a point, I told him I could finish a painting in a few minutes. So I did. Ten minutes, start to finish.
I'd been missing watching the sunset out west, so I painted a yellow ball hanging by thin strings over an ocean. Signed it, framed it, and hung it on the wall right away.
That kind of speed doesn't happen for me often. Most days I have ideas but struggle to get even one painted. I'm hoping that changes when I retire. Who knows what I could do with that much time.
