The Shag Carpet I Always Wanted

Shag Carpet
Visual description
A close-up view of a hand pressing down into a dense shag carpet. The carpet is made of thick, twisted strands in blue-gray and light beige tones. As the fingers spread across the surface, the strands bend and part, revealing how deep and soft the pile is. The hand sinks slightly into the carpet, emphasizing the long texture and weight of the fibers. The frame is tight, filling almost entirely with the carpet’s tangled strands and the hand resting in the middle.
Ever since I was young, I’ve wanted a long shag carpet.
Not just to see it in a room, but to live with it.
I imagined stepping onto it first thing in the morning and feeling the strands between my toes. At night, it would be the last thing my feet touched before going to bed. I wanted to run my hands through it, lie down on it, and feel the soft fibers all around me.
Sometimes I even imagined sleeping on it without a pillow or blanket, just stretched out on the floor.
But we have pets. And anyone who has pets knows a shag carpet would never survive.
So it will probably remain one of those small wishes I never get to keep.
Still, on the rare occasion I see one, I reach down and run my hand through it for a moment.
Sometimes I’ve even thought about building a tiny house, maybe an art studio, with shag carpet covering the whole floor. A small place where I could step inside and enjoy it without bringing the pets in. A shag carpet might survive dripping paint and pastel dust better than the mess pets would bring in.
